Five Benefits You Need to Know About Himed’s MATRIX Color™ Anodizing!
Himed’s MATRIX Color™ is a fully automated color anodizing process which provides a complete range of colors for titanium implants and related components. This electrolytic finish results in a vibrant, aesthetically unique surface.
Anodizing was first used on the industrial scale in the 1920s to prevent duralumin airplane structures from surface corrosion. One century later, it is now widely used in the medical device field.
Our clients often seek consultation with Himed engineers in designing distinct and innovative implant systems. Of all our MATRIX™ surface treatment offerings, MATRIX Color™ is certainly the most eye-catching and visually attractive. However, the many additional advantages are not always intuitive. Here, let us review these benefits:
Part identification - For traditional dental and orthopedic implants, we can initially color anodize the entire internal and external body. The outer surface can then be subsequently textured and/or coated with another bioactive MATRIX™ finish, leaving the anodized color only remaining in the internal diameter. Each diameter can be assigned a unique color across the entire implant system. This can greatly reduce errors and allow for immediate part identification.
Aesthetically unique - For dental abutments and cover screws, consider anodization to pink and magenta hues to aesthetically blend with the gingiva.
Biocompatibile - Many studies have demonstrated that the resultant titanium oxide layer provides enhanced biocompatibility. This ISO 13485:2016 validated process does not utilize dyes or pigments.
Clean, virtually residual free surface - Our cleaning validation has shown compliance with cytotoxicity and bioburden requirements.
Customizable - From blue and gold to green and magenta, MATRIX Color™ is offered in a variety of colors, as well as tints and tones of those colors. Available in conjunction with other MATRIX™ treatments, the process is further customizable for a completely integrated solution.
